Jensen and Skodvin Architects is a constant source of inspiration for me personally and professionally. It is very rare to achieve such detail and articulation in the built world which also has the respect for its surroundings. Their work is a manifestation of architecture that can stand the test of time. In many projects they exemplify how the freedom of art and the rules of architecture can come together to create spaces that inspire. The Juvet landscape hotel is an example of this. It treads lightly in the landscape capturing views, allowing in light and giving the user a sense or peace and tranquility.

– There are so many talented people in the art and design world. Several that stand out in my mind time and time again is the Swiss architecture office Herzog and de Meuron based in Basel Switzerland. They create timeless projects with un-ending inspiration. They have the ability to create unique experimental work that utilize both traditional and modern building techniques to create fantastic buildings and places. An example would be the new expansion to the Tate Modern in London.

Peter Zumthor another swiss architect who has created minimalistic works with exceptional material qualities. His work even in photos are filled with texture and a sense of place. It is understandable and personal.

Hvem vil du sende stafettpinnen videre til, og hvorfor?

– I would like to send the baton on to Daniel Rybakken. Daniel is a Norwegian lighting designer with his own studio in Gøteborg. His work has been a constant inspiration as it hovers between art and design. I hope to collaborate with him one day!
